I believe that anything that helps us live better, less wasteful lives, the better. I think we have a long way to go in transforming our toxic, parasitic ways into a more symbiotic existence with this world we live on. But living that way based on a misconception seems a bit wrong.
That said, we are constantly being fed one basic lie; “We are responsible for this global climate change”. This is why its referred to as an Inconvenient Truth not an Inconvenient Fact.
Without getting into the philosophical, lets examine what evidence we have on hand to support this claim, they are using a meek 400 years of data, if we were to consider a larger data set we will see that climate change occurs on a normal basis and that temperatures were in fact higher about 1000 years ago. What does this tell us?
The claim that we are contributing to massive amounts of CO2 that is crippling our eco-system, is unsubstantiated. Gas in our atmosphere is transient, meaning it will be dispersed and changed constantly. There is another science that shows us that CO2 in the biosphere will actually aid plant growth, and there is much, much more of this inert gas in the atmosphere to make our contribution hardly a factor.
Here is an excellent article detailing some of the aforementioned: In Pursuit of Happiness: Interview with Dr. Arthur Robinson
I’m not saying we don’t affect eco-systems (which can be as small as a drop of water, or as big as an ocean), I’m saying that the notion that we (humans) are responsible for the imminent destruction of our world by means of global warming, is bullocks. Earth will get warmer, and cooler of its own natural accord.
This doesn’t mean I want people to stop being eco-conscience, I just want people to question what they are being fed. Do your own research. Make your own conclusions. The US is still a free country, and we are all entitled to be more educated, and better informed than the information given to us by the government, or pop culture.
But if you believe, then none of this really matters because according to the Mayan’s we will cease to exist in 2012, but that’s another story.

I want to compliment your blog posts. I love how you write and express yourself. Your personality really comes through and I personally enjoy your personality so I’ve bookmarked your blog as a daily read.
This is a great post. It is truly frustrating to hear one report of the natural cycle of warming that the Earth does, with or without us, and then numerous reports of our evil pollution. I think I could almost print out your post as a way to succinctly express my opinion, precisely. Stop trashing the place but don’t think we’re responsible for everything either.
People seem to have lost their suspicion of what they told or who it is telling them. So many seem to make up their mind and there are no grays, on both sides of any discussion. I personally hold an opinion and still appreciate completely an opposing opinion. It’s a gift. ha
Nice job, man.
